JOHNNIE WALKER XR21 Crimson CNY 2022, Celebrate CNY with this exclusive John Walker and Sons XR21 gift pack that comes with Chinese-influenced rock glass with a metal coaster fit for an emperor. Balanced, elegant, and assured, the Johnnie Walker XR 21 carries an intriguing layer of intensity, which is both surprising and ever so delightful. The XR 21 is encapsulated with hints of tobacco and raisins together with citrus zest, ripened tropical fruits, and caramel, which ends with a long and smooth finish with a myriad of subtle peats.

The John Walker & Sons XR 21, is a tribute to the British knighthood awarded to John Walker’s grandson, Sir Alexander Walker in 1920. It was created to honor a very special occasion whereby Sir Alexander Walker was appointed as a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by King George V in 1920, commemorating his outstanding leadership and service to his king and country. It contains whiskies that are aged for a minimum of 21 years and drawn from extremely rare Johnnie Walker reserves.

Assured, balanced, and elegant, it has intriguing layers of intensity that are both surprising and delightful. Sweet honey and tempered spices come cloaked in warming smoke. Citrus zest, ripened tropical fruits, and caramel swirl within hints of tobacco and raisins. The long, smooth, soothing finish is complex and fascinating – a myriad of influences played out over a subtle tapestry of peatiness. Enjoy John Walker & Sons XR 21 year old in any way you like, but we recommend taking it neat. Add 1.5 oz to a whisky tumbler and accompany with a glass of chilled, freshly-siphoned soda water. JOHN WALKER & SONS XR 21 Collection was created to honor this very special occasion. Inspired by Sir Alexander’s own hand-written notes, it is blended from the exclusive Johnnie Walker reserve of rare whiskies, all of which have been matured for a full 21 years.

Harmony – a rather apt word to describe this well-balanced Japanese blended whisky from the Hibiki range. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is made with malt whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, as well as grain whisky from the Chita distillery. The whiskies are drawn from 5 different types of cask, including American white oak casks, Sherry casks and Mizunara oak casks. The blend itself was crafted by the Suntory Whisky blending team, led by Master Blender Shingo Torii. An elegant expression, with wafts of honey, orange, a herbaceous touch or two and light oak.

Old Parr Superior is blended and bottled by MacDonald Greenlees Distillers, and is known for its fruity, smokey and spicy taste.

Awarded as the '2007 World Whisky of the Year', it comes bottled with a funky, brown bottle which oozes character and charm. The bottle is not smooth but is intentionally mottled and wrinkled similar to the skin of a very old man, paying tribute to Thomas Parr, who is the oldest man in the history of England, living for more than 150 years.

DEWAR’S ‘Double Double’ 21 Year Old has pioneered the ‘double ageing’ process, with all the blends in the range undergoing a secondary resting in oak casks to marry the flavours and bring extra smoothness to the blend.

With the limited edition new ‘Double Double’ range, this process has become an art form, with a ‘quadruple aging’ or ‘double double’ aging process created by Dewar’s master blender Stephanie Macleod.

Innovation comes in many forms, and in 2019 our Master Blender, Stephanie Macleod, released a new range of Blended Scotch Whiskies with a Four Stage Ageing Process for Ultimate Smoothness. This may sound like an indulgence but the series has been picking up gold medal awards the world over since being released.

Firstly, the malt whiskies achieve their required age, and are mixed together and returned to an oak cask. The same happens to the grain whiskies. Then the two whisky types are blended together, and returned to an oak cask for a secondary double aging period. Finally, the blend is finished in an ex-Sherry cask.

This 21-year-old release has been finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, giving the whisky “subtle notes of cinnamon and ripe vine fruits with a silky smooth finish”.

We believe that in order to do things right and get the best results you should put in double the effort. So we asked ourselves how we could put in double the effort to our range that was already Double Aged for Extra Smoothness…and it was obvious..double it!

Our Double Double Series has been aged, blended together, aged again, then finished in sherry casks for the Ultimate Smoothness.

The Glenrothes is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. It is made at the Glenrothes distillery located in the town of Rothes in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery sits beside the Burn of Rothes, hidden in a glen on the edge of the town. The Glenrothes distillery is located on the banks of the peaty burn of Rothes. The distillery uses water from the Ardcanny Spring, which the locals call “The Lady’s Well”. Glenrothes first opened in 1879 and was then extended in 1896. Unfortunately in 1922 there was a large fire in the distillery and lots of casks exploded which caused huge quantities of whisky to drain into a local burn. It was then underwent a complete modernization in 1980 and now produces around 1.6 million litres a year.

Every bottle of Glenrothes has the year of bottling and date of distillation. Glenrothes have a very unique bottling that resembles the style of sample bottles found in blending rooms. Most of the whisky produced at Glenrothes is used for the Cutty Sark Scots blend.

Release by our friends at Douglas Laing as part of their XOP Black collection, only 478 bottles of this release are available.
